One word of attention. When you have the Lexia kit the brown connector needs to be pushed really to the end under the dashboard. If it there is only little than a millimeter left it will make no connection.

Citroën-das-pas-fën zegt:

Falling of the rearside can also be caused by a flat anti-sink sphere.

True, but the rear wil fall within a few seconds after starting the car, not 20/30 seconds.

This is my ideas for car repainting.
(I use La Noir Verni car for model)

I like black/gray model. It will fit with the interior of the car - gray Alcantra.
For black/red model I will have to change the interior with black or white leather.

Happy New Year!

My vote goes to the cherry red edition, Creme leather interior with the rims on the picture.

10 points!

but realize... a Xm isn't that easy for a respray. For the best results all the windows should be removed in my opinion. That isn't an option for the last windows on the side and the one on the rear.

Re: CoolMaN - Citroen XM 3.0 V6 24V (1999)

Why isn't it an option? It's exactly what happened when mine was resprayed  No problem at all!

Re: CoolMaN - Citroen XM 3.0 V6 24V (1999)

didn't know that.

i was thinking about the window rubbers which are NFP.

my point is that some resprays are done whit the windows stil in the car. That won't give the best result.

I agree that the what i saw from the MultiMedia respray on the picture was a good job, from what i've read, it wasn't easy to get there.

Re: CoolMaN - Citroen XM 3.0 V6 24V (1999)

Window rubber's were very expensive to start with! About 500 euro's per door... But it is easy to remove them, when you know how it works!
The C-pillar windows and the rear window are cut out with a window-removal tool. The rubbers on these windows are vulcanised onto the window

I live in Milano/Italy to March.2013 (maybe and more). Our contract expires then.

I know that respray is a very expensive. But I want it and want to be perfect

Re: CoolMaN - Citroen XM 3.0 V6 24V (1999)

Hello,
I found in your forum this steel strips and write e-mail to http://www.hagen-schildkamp-techniek.eu/mainframe.html

Problem is that there is no strips for front and rear bumpers.
Do you think if take a long piece can wring?

furriegurrie
afbeelding van furriegurrie
Re: CoolMaN - Citroen XM 3.0 V6 24V (1999)

You will not be able to just adjust a long strip and bend it. It will wrinkle on te sides because there will be too much material.
You'll need to press them in some kind of mould to get the correct shape or roll it into the correct shape. Not easy to do if you want (and of course you do) a perfect result.

But if I'm not mistaken you can still buy the strips for the front and rear bumper at the Citroën dealer. Not cheap though!

Re: CoolMaN - Citroen XM 3.0 V6 24V (1999)

If you're seriously thinking of keeping your Xm in perfect shape for the next 40 years (and why shouldn't you?) it might be worth investing money now for parts you can now still buy new. Things like indeed the strips.
And see if you can get your hands on an Xm you can take apart and store all the (technical) parts you might need for the future. More and more stuff will become difficult/impossible to find. At this moment you can still buy things....
This might apply even more for you as there will be less parts available in your country (should you move back) and shipping might not always be a viable solution.

Re: CoolMaN - Citroen XM 3.0 V6 24V (1999)

Yeah, right!
I started this process... but also new parts are lower quality than the original that was produced car. Photos of most parts is here.
I have experience in this.

This is one side, the other is that many parts are already NFP. :problem:
Why Citroen stop delivery of parts after 10 years? This is not serious.

Why for example Mercedes, can I buy a car part for car before 20-30 years?! :silent:

Why should I pay for parts of the Citroen double price? Citroen does not produce parts. Why not buy them directly from the manufacturer, like - Brembo,Valeo,SKF....etc ?

I like my car and want to drive it, not new! Why Citroen stop me?!
This is the business, no passion!

Re: CoolMaN - Citroen XM 3.0 V6 24V (1999)

You are spot on! Citroën does not seem to care much for it's heritage. Unlike some other manufacturers they do what they are obligated to do because of the law. They look at it from a business model that's build on selling new cars. Not on selling parts. They keep their stock to a minumum to cut cost. And the lovers of old(er) Citroën models are not their concern it seems....

I see your pictures of respray preparation.

I have some questions:
1. How you remove window rubbers in position 2 and 3? Only pull up or have a trick?
2. Is it necessary to remove window in position 1?

Thank you.

Re: CoolMaN - Citroen XM 3.0 V6 24V (1999)

Hi!

Question 2: yes, this is neccesary! Otherwise the chance of pealing clearcoat in 1 year time is very big.. Removal is best left to a specialist.. Mine were removed by the bodyshop..

Question 1:

Front door, top rubber. Remove the complete window. Do you know how to? If the window is out, you have allready removed the inner window rubber. Now the top one.. Look inside on the bottom of the rubber. Here you will find four parker screws. Remove these. Then, remove the plastic nut at the rear of the door. Now be carefull, cause the rubber has a metal strip n it, and once that bends, it will never regain its original shape!
Now pull the rear half of the rubber slightly outwards while sliding the whole rubber to the front. It is slided into a slot between the front window and the metal of the door..

The bottom rubber. Feel inside the door. You will feel that the rubber is folded around a corner of the steel of the door. Carefully lift the rubber from this ledge! When you just pull it up, you will tear it apart and you will need new rubbers.
Again, remove the plastic nut at the rear of the door. Remove the mirror. Now, remove the complete rubber by pulling the front end upwards.

Rear doors have a similar way of removing them. Difference is that the plastic nuts are in the front of the door and you have to slide out the rubber towards the rear of the car.
Bottom rubber is slid between glass and metal at the bottom. After unfolding it inside the door, pull it from between glass and metal. Put it back with some grease!

Hope you can use this information!

this is exactly why a respray should in my opinion only be done this way. Otherwise it looks nice the first period but after that....
